Spontaneous Roan

all-over roaning that can appear unexpectedly in the offspring of non-roan parents; typically chestnut roan with a blaze, but relatively little white of the legs

True Roan/Dark-headed Roan

a mixture of white and colored hairs on the body, but not head, legs, mane, or tail; does not lighten with age

Bay Roan

replaced red roan as the term for a roan with a bay background coat
